Strategy
MetroCoal's exploration target is to identify an exploitable coal resource of between 2.5 and 3.5 billion tonnes by the end of 2011. This resource is expected to include at least 250Mt within the Juandah Project area that will be available for UCG and subsequent CTL and/or syngas fired power generation. This resource target will underpin MetroCoal's core strategy to support:
- An export thermal coal capacity from conventional underground and opencut mining operations; and
- A world class base for UCG operations producing syngas that can be converted to clean fuels, fertilisers or used to generate cleaner electric power.
